His life revolves around two key things - watching YouTube movies of online singing sensations with his school friends, and helping his family herd their sheep and goats in the face of a cruel yet beautiful landscape.

Sama is the name of the newborn daughter of Waad al-Khateab, a proud resident of Aleppo, in Syria. “Aleppo. My city,” explains al-Khateab. When the civil war explodes with insane ferocity around her, she decides not to escape, to become a refugee with her daughter and husband Hamza, but to stay and film the slow dismantling of a whole city society.

It’s 2019 and the local Cornish fishing industry is dead in the water. Monied newcomers from big-city London are buying up seaside property. Some are even renting rooms out on AirBnB. Martin, a traditional Cornish fisher wants none of it. He cleaves to the traditional way of making a living and is appalled that his brother, Steven, is taking day trippers out on their family fishing boat in order to make ends meet.
