After three sell out anniversary screenings in Hobart last week, it’s Launceston’s turn to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Tasmanian classic, The Tale of Ruby Rose. Join the director Roger Scholes and star Chris Haywood for this special Red Carpet Screening of an iconic Tasmanian film that is just as fresh and powerful today as it was at its 1988 premiere.

The Ruby Rose celebration will continue with a Day on the Kingsway on Sunday 20th, a one-day street party celebrating eating, drinking and living in Tasmania. You can taste whisky from one of the state’s best distillers, try a paddle of amazing local beers, enjoy the best of Tasmania’s famous wines and cheeses, and buy art and craft from local producers.
Our salute to the Ruby Rose high country will include a free photo exhibition and demonstrations of hut making, shingle splitting, timber working, clothes making, wool spinning and camp cooking
AN ACTOR’S LIFE WITH CHRIS HAYWOOD

One of the most recognizable faces in Australian film and television, Chris Haywood’s credits include The Cars That Ate Paris, Newsfront, Breaker Morant, Muriel’s Wedding, Shine, The Man From Snowy River and of course The Tale of Ruby Rose. On Sunday he will be in conversation with Sara Cooper of Cooper Screen Academy on the life of a screen actor. This will be a fascinating and rewarding hour both for aspiring screen actors and for movie lovers.
