GENDER BOFA - FATIMA

By October 28, 2025News

This warm and insightful film by Philippe Faucon was one of the under-the-radar hits at Cannes and won Best Film in the Cesar Awards, France’s version of the Oscars. Fatima moves from her Moroccan village at the age of 20, to live in France. Now, 20 years on, she still speaks French poorly and is constantly frustrated by her two teenage daughters, her pride and joy, but her greatest source of worry. One day, she begins to write to her daughters in Arabic, putting into words that which she has never been able to express in French.
