“An uplifting and moving coming-of-age feature” documentary debut.
Melbourne International Film Festival
Zach’s family is proudly Aboriginal, and his father, Alec, has a strong connection to his Aboriginal heritage and encourages Zach to be ‘out there’ with his culture. He sees his son as
an Aboriginal man of the future but in Sydney, Zach finds himself on a self- destructive path fuelled by drugs, alcohol and sex. Alec and Zach lock horns over Alec’s forceful demands
that he connect with his culture.. will Ceremony and Aboriginal knowledge get Zach back on the right path and awaken the warrior within? Aaron Petersen’s camera followed Zach from the age of 10 to 16 and offers a rare and privileged glimpse of Aboriginal ceremony
and ritual.

(THE LIGHTHOUSE BUILDERS)
In 2011, Tasmanians Rob Castiglione and Tristan Derham approached the Aikido Foundation with a proposal to create
an Aikido film. This is a Tasmanian film that brings the heart of the modern Japanese martial art Aikido to a wider audience. It demonstrates the beauty in the movement, tells the stories of people that love Aikido and shows the legacy of the teacher Sugano Sensei in Australia.
King Island filmmaker Nubar Ghazarian wanted to tell the story of the historic King Island lighthouse’s construction from 1860 to 1861. The dramatised documentary tells the story through the perspectives of four different characters and the film shows the skill and resourcefulness of the builders 150 years ago.
