Photograph is a satisfying, unswoony romance.
-The Hollywood Reporter
Have you ever told a white lie to keep the family happy? Street photographer Rafi (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) pretends he has a fiancée to keep his grandmother from fretting about his marriage prospects. The pretend betrothed, Miloni (Sanya Malhotra) is a young woman he met by chance at a temple – but she has family issues too. Her middle class Hindu parents are already lining her up with a plump, successful and utterly bland husband from the US. The film is lusciously shot with some heart-aching acting and dialogue from supporting roles. The plot sympathetically unwinds jumbled skeins of hope, marriage, class, and expectation. As the pressures of life in today’s India are exposed, then explained, they also begin to reflect the deep wellsprings of kindness that exist across all levels of society - when confronted with respect and tenderness. This is not just a love story, it’s a story which features people who love each other. A delicious, gentle, heart-warming must-see, no matter where you come from.
