Take a typical English family with an eccentric grandmother, unfulfilled mother and almost wayward daughter, stir in a helping of intergenerational misunderstanding, sprinkle lightly with a pinch of class snobbery and season with contemporary multicultural sensibilities - then bake in a superhot oven of catastrophic loss. The result is Eliza Schroeder’s first production, Love Sarah. With a tip-top cast including Celia Imrie (grandmother Mimi), Shannon Tarbet (Clarissa) and Scotsman supreme Bill Paterson, the film rolls gently, and with an unusually clean and open imagery, through the trials and tribulations that lead to the successful opening of a bakery in Notting Hill, London. This film will leave you smiling - and yearning for a Danish - with equal urgency as the credits roll.
