ARTIST STATEMENT
The Cambridge English dictionary defines a ‘joyride’ as ‘an occasion when someone drives fast and dangerously for
pleasure, especially in a stolen vehicle.’ I would define the making (and subsequent viewing) of Lockdown Joyride as an occasion when someone, especially in isolation, virtually drives fast and dangerously for pleasure and escape, using sampled video vehicles.
