SUNDAY NOVEMBER 13
2.30 - 4.00PM/ ARCH & DESIGN

SPECIAL GUESTS: PAUL BARCLAY, RADIO NATIONAL (MODERATOR), DAN JACKSON (DIRECTOR IN THE SHADOW OF THE HILL, LOUISE MORRIS, (GETUP), OWEN TILBURY (CONNECTED LAUNCESTON, SMART CITY, SMART REGION), SCOTT RANKIN (BIG HART), WENDY NEWTON (CITY OF LAUNCESTON)

The fragmentation of the family unit, economic downturns and increasing expectations of government to find solutions mean that the old paradigms of leadership are under pressure. Government is struggling to deliver services, fix problems and build communities in an environment of increased demands and constrained budgets. There is a loss of trust in politicians around the world and a swing to populism.

Community Takes Charge brings together a panel of community led change experts to discuss this phenomenon and to paint a picture of a future where community increasingly takes charge of those things that it is passionate about. The trailer for the inspiring film In the Shadow of the Hill regarding a community action in the favelas of Rio sets the scene.
