Director Ceyda Torun grew up in Istanbul, where hundreds of thousands of cats have roamed the metropolis freely for thousands of years, wandering in and out of people’s lives. Kedi tells the tales of seven very particular cats of Istanbul. These cats could be characters from a Dickens tale – and their human companions are no less compelling. Istanbul’s cats and their kittens bring joy and purpose to those they choose, giving people an opportunity to reflect on life and their place in it. In Istanbul, cats are the mirrors to ourselves.
