THE FOOD BRIGADE AND RED-CARPET PARTY
Friday, 6 May, 8.00pm
The Star Theatre, Invermay
Cathy (Audrey Lamy) is a sous chef determined to open her own high-end French restaurant rather than work for others. But nothing goes as planned. With financial difficulties, she accepts a job at a shelter for young, mainly African migrants in danger of having their permits revoked if they don’t find meaningful work in France. At first, she hates the job then her passion for cuisine starts to change the young students’ lives. They in turn have a lot to teach her. Along comes a competitive TV cooking show opportunity for the ragtag kitchen brigade and the stakes are raised even further. It’s exhilarating – and amusing – to see these disaffected young refugees join forces with a sous-chef on a mission to, not just survive, but to triumph in the competitive world of French gastronomy! Have your taste buds delighted and your faith in human nature restored as the story unfolds!
