With his hair dyed a solid grey and shaped into a perfect Trump-style blowout, Blanco (Academy Award winner, Javier Bardem), the charismatic owner of a family-run factory, is under pressure as he covets a local award for business excellence. Everything needs to be perfect! But the veneer of the perfect company – who’s motto “Effort, Equilibrium, Loyalty” adorns the factory wall – cracks as Blanco has to deal with a vengeful fired worker, a depressed supervisor, and an infatuated but ruthless intern. To win the award, the manipulative “good boss” shamelessly meddles in his employees’ private lives and crosses every line imaginable, setting off an explosive chain reaction that may leave the prize and his future hanging in the balance. A piercingly clever comedy, with a style reminiscent of the Coen brothers’ and showcasing Javier Bardem at the top of his game, that will make you ask: “is my boss like this”?
