Winner of the People’s Choice Award at the Melbourne International Film Festival, Jalanan (meaning street-side), is the story of Boni, Ho and Titi who are street musicians in Indonesia’s capital city. We experience their highs and lows over a period of time, and the social and political forces impacting their lives. Boni lives with his wife in the tunnel under the bridge; Ho, a womaniser, dreams of becoming a husband; Titi, the mother of 3 children who live in different homes, seeks to achieve her high school diploma. The film follows their daily challenges to eke out a living and survive in this huge city riddled with poverty and corruption. The film is also all about their music, and the countryside that surrounds the major city. You will feel that you are right there with them.
